What We Do

Northerly Collective was born from a passion to share our northern lifestyle, from adventuring through the tall pines to lingering conversations over a mug of coffee; a passion that makes us come alive. Our mission is use our love of the Northwoods to create a community of northern folks and reconnect with the soul of northern Wisconsin.

Who We Are

After connecting at a yoga teacher training, we discovered a shared love of the Northwoods that began during our childhoods and continued to grow while individually pursuing opportunities in different corners of the world. Life led us to the community of Manitowish Waters. In a place that is both a relaxing retreat and an outdoor enthusiast’s dream, we discovered the importance of spending our days the way we want to spend our lives. Our goal is to inspire you to take the road north and write your own “up north” story. We are both currently based in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin

My Northwoods Story

I'm a northerner by birth - born + raised on Trout Lake in Boulder Junction. After college (UW-Stout: B.S. Package Engineering), I moved to Tucson, Arizona for a corporate job with a government contractor. After a few too many hours at a desk job + a Wisconsin boy, I found myself yearning for the water + woods of northern Wisconsin. My husband, David, and I call Alder Lake in Manitowish Waters home and have completely fallen in love with life in the North.

I START my day with...

A cup of coffee + snuggles from my golden retriever, Ruby. If weather permits, a morning walk always starts my day at the right pace.

on my bucket list this summer

Pictured Rocks National Park + Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula

Motto for my life

"Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

Most underappreciated place in northern WIsconsin

Iron County - from cross country ski trails like MECCA and the Uller Trail, to waterfalls and rivers, Iron County has an untouched sense + beauty that continuously intrigues me.

Favorite part about life in the north

The perfect balance of peace + solitude and a welcoming community

My Northwoods story

I grew up in Wausau, WI, but my parents have had a cottage on Rest Lake in Manitowish Waters since I was six years old. I spent endless summer days splashing in the lake and catching frogs, and winter days jumping off of the roof into mounds of snow. I have lived around the Midwest and the world (Nepal!), but I moved North permanently in 2015 after finishing grad school and never looked back.

I START my day with...

A walk with my yellow lab Sunny – a ritual we never miss (and she would never let me).

on my bucket list this summer

Mackinac Island

My go-to summer recipe

It's no secret that I have a thing for carnitas tacos and an ice cold margarita on a hot summer night, but I also love the fresh flavors of summer fruits + vegetables like this Thai grilled corn and peach quinoa salad.

Essential item for northwoods living

A great pair of waterproof hiking shoes – from dewy mornings to rainy afternoons, it’s the best way to keep feet dry on any adventure.

Community. The Northwoods community quickly becomes family - everyone looks out for one another.
