Northerly's Gift Giving Guide

To us, finding intentional, unique gifts for our friends + family makes the holiday season merrier. A bit of Northerly shopping advice - take your time, pick items that bring joy, and a little Northwoods nostalgia never fails. No matter who you are shopping for this year (maybe it's yourself!), we know you will find something to love in this gift guide.

For the Cozy Cabin Curator

Send cabin-inspired gifts to create beautiful spaces and cozy corners and remind your loved ones of life in the North.

Create the nostalgic scent of the Northwoods with our favorite candles - The North candle from Vancouver Candle Co. or Woods scented candle from Sydney Hale Co. Make sure the candle stays lit all season long with the cutest match striker.

Snuggle up fireside in a classic Pendleton blanket: our favorite patterns are Glacier Park, Rob Roy, + Askutasquash

Where Northwoods hobbies meet cabin decor, here's a few pieces of art to hang on the cabin wall: A-frame cabins, Campfires, and Northwoods adventures.

A cabin that is equal parts function and fashion, is our favorite. Make the trip from the wood pile easier with this Faribault Mills Log Carrier

This “Look Up” pennant from Lake Effect Co. is the perfect reminder to notice all of the little things around you, the perfect reminder for a lake-loving college student.

Fill your loved ones’ coffee tables with books that bring cabin vibes like this book from LL Bean, this book about the Norwegian art of chopping wood, this book filled with unique cabins, and this book on cabin architecture.

For the long-distance friend

Send Northwoods love to all corners of the Earth this holiday season - there is nothing better than getting little bit of home in the mail. These are some of our favorite gifts that are packaged for travel.

Spoiling your long-distance friends is easy with these curated gift boxes made by some incredible northern-minded ladies. We are loving the Cozy Up box by White Spruce Market, the Sweater Weather box by Teak and Twine, and the Cozy box by Minny & Paul.

Make it personal and create your own northern Wisconsin-themed package filled with gifts that remind you of time in the Northwoods. Here are some of our favorites:

Badger State of Mind book
Stormy Kromer Can Wrap
Old Fashioned Carry On Cocktail
A pound of Big Water Coffee's
Seasonal Blend + Mug
North Hat from Askov Finlayson
Up North Notepad from Dock 'N Shop
A pound of fresh cranberries with our favorite Cranberry-Lime Pie recipe

Send your friend a collection of Northwoods memories by creating a personalized photo calendar from Artifact Uprising. We suggest including Northwoods staples - sunsets, lake views, and pine trees.

For the Adventurer

Gifts for the wild spirit that likes to forge new trails and take advantage of all of the beauty the North has to offer.

Lightweight, easy to pack, and super warm, the Rumpl blanket is great for the campers (and cold weather hammock dwellers) in your life.

Patagonia always has some of our favorite outdoor gear. From flannel shirts, to retro vests, to back packs, you can’t go wrong with a gift from their adventure minded products.

Keep food and beverages cold (REALLY cold) with our favorite Yeti cooler. A perfect gift for anyone that likes to live life on the go - use it for camping, picnics, boat days, road trips, or to keep groceries cold on the way home from the store.

These super lightweight, Wisconsin-made snowshoes are great for groomed or ungroomed trails - perfect for the winter lover in your life.

Gift a new hobby with a northern-inspired, Minnesota-made longboard from Northern Pines Longboards. E rides their Slingback model on the Heart of Vilas County Bike Trails in Manitowish Waters.

As the days get shorter, many of our adventures via ski or snowshoe have to happen in the dark. Make sure your friends + family can love the snow anytime of day with this headlamp.

For the novice or expert fly fisherman (or woman) on your list, pair a fly a rod from St. Croix Rods in Park Falls with the  L.L. Bean Ultimate Book of Fly Fishing book. Bonus: take a factory tour so they can pick out their own rod and get tips on the best spots in the North to fish.

For the lake-minded folks

Celebrate lake season all year round with these amazing gifts that will have you thinking sunshine and warm weather even on the coldest winter day.

Just as beautiful hanging on a hook or draped over a basket, Pendleton towels are warm, cozy, and the perfect gift for lake-loving friends + family.

Our friend Katherine at Lake Effect Co. is the queen of lake life. We are loving her new tea towels and the Northerly Vibes sweatshirt that we helped create - we suggest ordering the V2 style! Use coupon code NORTHERLY for 30% off orders of $50+.

Our favorite twins of Dock ‘N Shop launched their website just in time for the holidays. We are loving this, this, and this from their new line of island-inspired, lake-approved clothing.

Lake time is best when shared with friends, and probably with a cold beverage. Get everyone excited about summer pontoon cruises with a Corkcicle Stemless cup (also one of Oprah's favorite things this year!).

It's no secret that we love floaties for hot summer days at the lake. Put together a fun lake gift with a watermelon floatie, floaties for your cocktail, and our favorite sunglasses from Warby Parker.

For the northerner

Life in the North requires a few essentials to ensure that you are ready to face all of the seasons with the right gear.

Is there anything better than a great cup of tea by the fire? Combine our favorite Le Creuset tea kettle, with Peace Tea, and a mug from Avenue Pottery (Bonus: you can have names and short phrases can be added for only $7 per mug!).

Staying warm never looked so good with the Shit That I Knit Hat. We love their sizing guide that they created on Instagram to help you find the perfect hat for a friend (and yourself, let’s be real).

Keeping your feet warm is key in the North, especially on those hardwood cabin floors. Stuff stockings with these Toasty Toe Sweaters or our favorite slippers so everyone stays warm.

Bring rustic charm to the cabin with a Rustic Edition of your favorite classic board game. Play an all day game of Monopoly or test your steady hand in Operation. A great host or hostess gift!

The ultimate pajamas make the ultimate gift. Give a pair of Lake Pajamas for the northerner on your list to wear for a quiet night in.

Give the hunters in your life a new spin on how to use their harvest with the Venison: the slay to gourmet field to kitchen cookbook by our friend Jon.

For the kids

We love shopping for Northwoods gear for kids - those oversized hats and fuzzy boots are the cutest! Find some fun gifts for the littles in your life with some of our favorites.

Keep your child's hat warm + cozy in a stylish bobble hat - let's be honest, the bigger the poof the better. Grab a hat for your favorite boy or girl from Joules.

Keep tiny toes warm with these Ugg’s Cozy Slippers - a great gift for nieces and nephews, because you know parents won’t buy something that their kids will grow out of in a year. But aren’t they so cute?!

Get lost and explore the unknown with this Explorer Playhouse - created as a collaboration between Camp Wandewega x The Land of Nod.

‘Tis the season for the return of the Orion constellation (and his belt of course) in the northern hemisphere. Bring the Northwoods night sky home with an at home planetarium

Dock ‘N Shop expanded their kids line for the Holidays! We are obsessed with the Catch a Wave Tee and the kids version of our favorite striped sweatshirt.
