Manitowish Waters Lakeside Restaurant Trail
When sundress and short season arrives, there’s only one place you’ll want to be - on the water! Trade your keys for a life jacket and enjoy a cocktail cruise to a lakeside restaurant for dinner. From a taco at the grill at The Lower Unit Bar & Grill to a four course Bayou special, we’ve compiled our favorite restaurants accessible via the Manitowish Waters Chain of 10 Lakes.
In a cozy log cabin, Aberdeen has the perfect ambiance for Wisconsin’s traditional Friday Night Fish Fry. Enjoy shrimp nachos and a cocktail on their patio or screened-in porch overlooking the water. If you come by water, located on the Trout River, there's no dock here, so plan on tying up and getting your toes wet.
A Manitowish Waters summer favorite, The Lower Unit Bar & Grill at Greer’s Pier Marina is the place to be on hot summer days. Enjoy one of their frosty signature drinks, a fresh carnitas taco from the grill, and ice cream from the deli inside. If you have time to relax, play a round of hammerschlagen and enjoy live music. On a summer weekend, this is the place to be.
A jump back to the 1930’s gangster era and the famous shootout between the FBI and gangsters John Dillinger & Babyface Nelson, enjoy a cocktail among the bullet holes at the historic Little Bohemia Lodge. Come by boat, located on Little Star Lake.
Whether you visit to enjoy an appetizer on the patio or to join friends for an award-winning Bayou experience - a favorite way to celebrate summer in the land of lakes - we promise you’ll leave feeling like part of the family. Local tips: arrive by watercraft and request a lakeside table to savor the sunset over Manitowish Lake.
Enjoy a relaxing pontoon cruise with cocktail in hand on your way to White Oak Grill at Chippewa Retreat Resort. Begin with a glass of wine on the patio as the sun sets over Manitowish Lake, before sitting down to dinner. On cooler evenings, we recommend cozying up in front of their fireplace. Falling in love in (+ with) the Northwoods? Get married here!
Take a step back in time to satisfy your palate at Voss’s Birchwood Lodge. Located on Spider Lake, we suggest making your way to dinner in the boat (bring the antique one!). Begin with an old fashioned from the bar, surrounded by northwoods memorabilia.
Boating to breakfast? Yep, it’s a thing in Manitowish Waters! Dock your ship at Koller Park for a quick walk across the bridge to Aurora Borealis Restaurant (AB to the locals). Start your day off with huevos rancheros or just the standard eggs + potatoes. Dine in the all-season room overlooking the Manitowish River, or catch the local gossip from the bar.
After a busy day on the water, grab a quick burger or bite at Pea Patch Saloon - we suggest their nachos. Park your boat at Koller Park and make the short trip across the street. Test your luck with a game of giant jenga on their patio, lined with bright garden planters. Local tip: Visit on Sundays for the largest Bloody Mary bar in the area.
Enjoy your morning coffee with a (lake) view - boat, bike or drive to Dixie’s Coffee House. If you come by water, tie up at Koller Park and make the short walk or grab a Big Cal Borrow A Bike from the rack.
The memory of a great meal stays with you long after the table's been cleared. Enjoy traditional favorites on the porch at Parkside Tavern. Arrive by water, tie your boat up in a slot at Koller Park. Local tip: Enjoy a drink on their patio during Sunday afternoon’s Music in the Park.
