A Northwoods Valentine’s Day

Call us cheesy or hopeless romantics, but we cannot resist the ultimate holiday of love - Valentine’s Day. What’s not to love about a holiday full of treats, flowers, thoughtfulness, and reminders of the importance of celebrating the people we love. Whether you spend the day with a friend, significant other, or family member, we have put together some of our favorite gifts and Northwoods experiences to shower them with L.O.V.E.

For Her

For the coffee lover

Put together some of our favorite coffee things with a sprinkle of hearts and roses. We love Midwest-based Collectivo Coffee’s seasonal “Las Rosas”, the Pink Hearts Mug from Emma Bridgewater (find it at Ann Marie’s in Minocqua!), and perhaps a new Chemex to make the perfect cup. Need a card to tie it together? Check out Pier Point Paper’s “Perfect Blend” card.

For the [aspiring] home cook

Spend the night cooking at home together with Alison Roman’s Dining In: Highly Cookable Recipes (we are obsessed with the Imposter al Pastor recipe for tacos!). Sweeten the gift with a Le Creuset Dutch Oven in classic Cherry Red. She'll love it + you.

For the fitness buff

Whether your lady is into fitness or just likes to be comfy, we adore the Harper Leggings from Beach Riot’s Heartbreaker collection, especially when paired with their Charlie Top.

For your forever love

Yearly Co. has stolen our hearts with their Gold Anniversary Bangles. A 60-year tradition in maker Ann Williams family, a gold bangle is gifted to a new bride on her wedding day for her spouse to add to each year. Ann is an incredible metal worker who creates bangles for anyone who wants to start a new tradition for a wedding, anniversary, or just because. Swoon.

For the local

Some of our favorite local businesses are a great place to find a special treat for the one you love...
Order custom cupcakes from Yooper Delights
Grab a bouquet of fresh blooms from Trig’s Village Market Floral
Pick up her favorite chocolates from Kilwin’s Minocqua
Pamper her with a relaxing facial from Fern & Folk Spa, or a pedicure from The Spa at Manitowish Waters

For Him

For the frequent flyer

Handcrafted in Duluth, MN, the Flight Bag from Frost River is equal parts stylish and spacious. Each detail from the waxed canvas, to the premium leather + brass hardware makes this the ultimate travel companion. For bonus points - tuck a card in the pocket with plans for a weekend getaway.

For the homebody

Is there anything better than a movie night on the couch with someone you love? Keep him cozy from head to toe in an American made sweatshirt from Best Made, Alternative Apparel’s Dodgeball Eco-Fleece Pants,  J.Crew Heart Print Socks (we gotta throw in some hearts), and  Glerups’ Low Boot wool slippers. If your pup needs to snuggle up too, this National Parks polar fleece dog bed from Pendleton is so soft and warm.

For the sophisticated palate

J.Henry & Sons makes Whiskey & Bourbon with heirloom, red corn developed by the University of Wisconsin in 1939. All of the corn used to make their spirits is grown on the multi-generational Henry Farms, about 20 miles north of Madison. Our favorite is their Bourbon, and you can find it here.

For the modern outdoorsman

Outfit your lumberjack in new duds that match his three-day scruffy beard and that he won’t want to take off. Filson is our go to for their Alaska Guide Shirt and Wool Cuff Hat, or visit Askov Finlayson for amazing gear like this Round Titanium Flask.

For Fun in the Northwoods

Get active

Take a ski lesson together at Minocqua Winter Park or explore a new trail using our Winter Trails guide. End the evening with a pint of craft beer and appetizers in the cozy Divano’s Lounge at Minocqua Brewing Company.

Make it a date

Head north to Bear Trapp Inn in Land ‘O Lakes for a classic Wisconsin supper club experience. After dinner, stop by The Alley Lanes & Tavern for a game of bowling (which for us means a lot of laughter).

Take your love to new heights

Soar through the frozen wilderness with Northwoods Zip Line in Minocqua. While this may sound a bit chilly, we see it as an excuse to cozy up by the fireplace to make s’mores with our favorite North Mallow marshmallows, and a glass of wine.

Take a stroll

Start with a lakeside dinner at The Boathouse, then stroll hand-in-hand through downtown Minocqua with no destination in mind. Afterall, it is sometimes the simple pleasures that have the most meaning.
