Summer has officially arrived to the Northwoods which means warm weather, bright sunshine, plenty of lake time, and lots of exciting festivals + events. Whether you are a local or just visiting, an outdoor enthusiast or a bookworm, there is an event for you in the Northwoods this summer. Each month, we will compile a Northerly Collective list of noteworthy festivals + events happening across the Northwoods. Get out and have fun with family + friends this summer!

One Time Festivals + Events
Up North Beer Festival, June 8-9, Eagle River
Northwoods craft beer lovers rejoice! Up North Beerfest will have more than 30 breweries with close to 150 different beers to sample + savor. Don't miss the NEW Friday night event -Premier Beer Night – where 10 hand selected breweries will showcase beers that will not be served during the main event on Saturday. Grab your friends (and a designated driver) for a fun weekend of brews in the Northwoods!
Solstice Festival, June 15-16, Manitowish Waters
In Manitowish Waters, we like to celebrate the longest day of the year with a day of biking, food, music, and good times. The Solstice Festival features events for all levels of bikers from the Friday Night Fun Ride, Family Fun Paved Trail Ride, to the Cranberry, Century, + Half-Century Road Rides. With stations along every route to provide delicious treats and water (we see you Bloody Mary bar!), you are guaranteed a great time. Meet back at Koller Park on Saturday afternoon for live music, food, + drinks including a Solstice Festival beer brewed just for the occasion.
Paws in the Park, June 16-17, Minocqua
Kick-off summer with your favorite four-legged friend at Paws in the Park! The weekend kicks off with the inaugural Paws on the Run 5k race on Friday, then dog agility demonstrations, pet expo, and competitions by Dock Dogs of Wisconsin on Saturday.
Float Your Boat Trivia Rally, June 23, Manitowish Waters
Relive your summer camp days with a scavenger hunt on the Manitowish Chain! The North Lakeland Discovery Center is hosting the inaugural Float Your Boat Trivia Rally to test your knowledge of Northwoods ecology and history. Everyone gets a list of clues, prompts, and riddles to use as they take to the lakes on their own boats for the day. There will be awards, a big BBQ, and costumes are encouraged.
Ride with Leinie, June 23, Land O’ Lakes
Does anything say summer better than beer tasting, biking, + outdoor fun? Wilderness Lakes Trails and the Forest Lake Country Store have organized a great weekend to benefit the continued expansion of the Wilderness Lakes Trails biking and pedestrian trail system. Friday night is the Wisconsin Shore Lunch Fish Fry, and Saturday is full of bike rides, Leinenkugel beer tastings, + Trig’s Brat Lunch. Rides include:
- 12 miles: Led by Dick Leinenkugel along rustic roads and showcases the 3.2-mile section of the bike trail which was completed in 2012.
- 38 miles: Sylvania Wilderness Area passes through the towns of Watersmeet and Land O’ Lakes utilizing paved roads and trails.
Presque Isle Days, June 23-24, Presque Isle
Take a trip to Wisconsin’s Last Wilderness for a weekend full of fun for the whole family! Highlights include a Last Wilderness 5k + 10k Run, silent sports demo, lumberjack shows by Timberworks Lumberjack Shows, frog + turtle races (BYO critter), live music, and more. This is one of our favorite festivals – make sure you don’t miss it!
Ongoing Festivals + Events
Get your bookworm on this summer with the Northwoods Book Festival – a joint project of six Northwoods area libraries. The Book Festival hosts free events at participating libraries that feature amazing authors across many genres. Find your new favorite book and get it signed at these fun events in June:
- June 12th: Matthew Janzen, author of The State of Craft Beer, at the Aqualand Ale House in partnership with the Boulder Junction Public Library.
- June 14th: Mary Dougherty, author of Life in a Northern Town, at the Minocqua Public Library.
- June 21st: Allen Eskins, author of The Life We Bury and many other mystery novels, at the Frank B. Koller Memorial Library in Manitowish Waters
Waasaaganing Indian Bowl Powwow, Lac du Flambeau
Celebrate Ojibwe culture + traditions through dance and song at the Indian Bowl this summer. June dates are June 19th + 26th.
Outdoor music venues are popping up all over the Northwoods, and we can’t wait to kick back with a cold glass of rosé all summer at these spots:

- Party in the Park, Sunday’s at Torpy Park in Minocqua
